Why this inspection matters — Summer (Dec–Feb)

Summer is when presentation standards are most visible and most under stress. Heat, water demand, pest pressure and heavy use all peak simultaneously. The biggest risk is compounding failure — a stressed turf, a blocked irrigation head and a delayed visit can turn a fixable problem into a full renovation.

Focus areas this season:

Irrigation — must run correctly, every zone, every cycle; hand water new and stressed plants
Mowing height — raise to 40–50mm to shade soil and protect the crown from heat stress
Turf stress — identify heat-stressed areas early before browning becomes turf death
Storm response — inspect after every significant rain event for damage, debris and erosion
Pest and disease — peak aphid, scale and fungal activity; monitor shrubs and turf closely
Bins and playground — peak use; increase bin emptying frequency, rake softfall frequently

Cutting height raised to 40–50mm for summer protection

Shading the soil crown reduces heat stress and moisture loss

No heat stress browning beyond expected dormancy

Stress browning = insufficient water or compaction; flag immediately

Irrigation confirmed adequate — no dry patches indicating zone failure

Walk the site during irrigation to confirm full coverage

Edges maintained — no overgrowth into paths or beds

No disease signs — check for brown patch, summer patch patterns

Hot humid nights = high fungal risk; catch at first signs

Clippings removed or mulched evenly — none clumping on hard surfaces
